This is a Hyoshaku (gourd ladle), known as a tea utensil and sencha utensil. It is used to scoop water from a mizusashi (water container). The ladle part is coated with black lacquer, making it waterproof. The handle is straight and easy to hold, making it useful during tea procedures. It is about 20 centimeters long.
