This item was stored in a box in my in-laws' storage room. The inward curve to prevent oil from splattering is appealing. The discoloration (burning) from tempura oil, often seen on stainless steel, is less noticeable on black. I've never seen a spout on the side to prevent oil from getting all over when transferring it. It's well-designed. There are no instructions, perhaps because it was intended to be used. While it doesn't specify whether it's compatible with IH (induction heating) or gas, I believe it can be used since the material is iron. It would have been useful for my sons' lunches and daily meals when they were in middle and high school, but now it's just the two of us. We can't fry things when our small grandchildren are visiting and running around, and we've moved from a house to a small apartment with limited storage, so we're at an age where we're decluttering. Therefore, I'm offering it to someone who will use it while it's still new. Recently, I bought a similar pot with the edge slightly curved inward, made of the same material and size. I bought it for when my sons' family comes over, making a large group of seven. My son made a lot of spaghetti in it. Then I thought, "Couldn't I have done that with this tempura pot...?" Oops! I realized that in a small kitchen, dual-use tools that can be used for other purposes are more desirable than items that can only be used for one thing. It says "Do not use for other purposes," but what about using it as a stew pot or a frying pan? My mother-in-law, who passed away over a decade ago, had it stored away for a long time, so it's from before IH became widespread.
