The low, resonant tones and the raspy high notes create an indescribable timbre, making this a key for shinobue players to try. ◇ Tuning ◇ Tuned to the Western musical scale of 440Hz, with the upper register (second octave) matched with a tuner, allowing for ensemble playing and performance with other instruments. Tuned to allow for the sound to be produced with breath strength up to the fourth register: lower register (first octave), upper register (second octave), and higher register (third octave).
