This is an "Ujo-bori" tray, a traditional craft from Okayama. The theme is the auspicious "persimmon," and the warm, hand-carved pattern and deep luster make it a very beautiful piece. Each piece is finished by hand by a craftsman, giving it a presence that mass-produced items lack.
