This is a Nishijin tie in a wine red color. Depending on the light, the red sheen can appear vibrant or muted. (This is why the color may look different in the photos.) My family member used it a few times, so I'm not entirely sure, but there seems to be a basting stitch-like thread on the front of the wide end.
