This is a guitar made by my father, whose hobby was guitar making, before he passed away. It is being sold as a junk item. The sides and back are made of Macassar ebony, and the top is made of German spruce. The book-matched section is peeling. The size is modeled after a Martin D size. It has scalloped X bracing. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer. The Macassar ebony was purchased in the 2000s from LMI, which has now been absorbed by stewmac. At the time (and perhaps still), many alternative materials were being proposed to replace Brazilian rosewood. I remember it being a hard wood with a brilliant sound when tapped. The top has been replaced, possibly because he wasn't satisfied with the original finish. There are traces of this. Abalone inlays have also been applied, perhaps with the intention of making it a high-grade instrument. My father also collected vintage guitars and tried to emulate the sound of pre-war and post-war Martin guitars. I remember he always struggled with durability and playability, even after achieving the desired sound. I also tried making guitars myself, but I have no plans to do so in the future. Although it is used, I will also include a bridge with a long saddle. There are no obvious structural defects, but there may be oversights, so please understand that it is a junk item. 0 fret: 44mm 14th fret: 56mm You might be able to finish it and play it as is, but I also suggest it as a practice piece for repair or for parts.
