My grandfather was a fisherman when I was young. He didn't drink, smoke, or gamble. He was a bit different from the image of a Showa-era fisherman. His hobbies were grinding his own beans and brewing a cup of coffee with a siphon after lunch, and cleaning. I remember him always carrying a cloth and wiping things around the house. Also, he wasn't the type to have material desires, but for some reason, he gradually collected and displayed these ornaments. My grandfather was small, slender, and quiet. He had a personality and physique that were unlike a fisherman, but for some reason, he always returned with a large catch when he went out to sea. He seemed to have worked as a boat captain, but according to my mother, his colleagues on the boat called him "Captain-sama" instead of "Captain," out of respect for his work ethic and personality. My grandfather was gentle and kind to everyone, and he was well-liked by those around him, with some even regarding him as a god. Now I wonder, why was my grandfather, who didn't look like a fisherman (>. <), able to have such a large catch? It might have been due to my grandfather's daily actions. But, I also think that perhaps my grandfather's collection had an influence. These ornaments were the only things collected by a minimalist in the Showa era. They might have had some kind of benefit and protected him. I think it would be better to keep them if possible, but my house is also small and I can't keep them, so I am putting them up for sale.
