The Bauhaus movement (1919-1933) in Germany, which aimed to fuse modern industry and art, also produced numerous toy designs. Defined as "toys should be rich in fantasy, evoke joy, and have educational meaning, and be a driving force for creativity," they primarily used wood and employed strong contrasting colors. The Naef company, recognized for its high level of craftsmanship, was commissioned by the Bauhaus Foundation to produce replicas. These are beautiful building blocks with ship-like parts.
