The highly popular "Wabash Stripe" pattern, even in vintage items, is created using discharge printing, where the color is removed before the dot pattern is applied. While this pattern typically uses a plain-woven, soft fabric, this cap is made from 12oz original denim fabric woven on a shuttle loom. The best part, I believe, is that you can enjoy the fading, similar to jeans, not just color loss, by wearing and washing it repeatedly over many years. I aimed for a clean, bluish color fade and washed it every time I wore it. Therefore, the rough texture unique to denim remains, and I think it has a nice gradation of color fading. There were no stains when I wore it, but I haven't worn it for about 10 years and have kept it in the closet. Therefore, there is some slight yellowing due to long-term storage (see images).
