The pocket is at the web, and the glove is shaped to catch the ball with the index finger, like a catcher. It's designed to allow for two ways of closing: shallow for ground balls and short hops, using the thumb, pinky, and ring fingers for a deeper catch. It's a standard-sized first baseman's mitt, not heavy, and easy to handle. There's a knob-like pad on the inside of the wrist for an improved fit. The inside of the ring finger has been repaired. Two pieces of leather have been attached from the inside and outside, so it will never be broken through from the inside. It's an internal repair, so it's not noticeable from the outside. The repaired area feels much better now, so there's no problem using it, but please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned. There is an embroidered name in the care area. Please check it.
