This effects unit powers on and functions, but it cannot be turned off when connected. The leftmost knob allows you to mix between direct and effect signals, so you need to turn it off using the knob. Would be suitable for someone who can repair it. Other than that, there was no crackling or noise. This is being sold as a junk item.
