If you leave the lid of the box open, the music box will play in response to clapping or loud noises. The advantage is that you don't need to wind it up to play music. The disadvantage is that the music box spins every time a loud noise occurs, which might be a little startling. If you leave the lid open and provide stimulation, 8 Christmas melodies will play. When you close the lid, it will reset and the songs will play repeatedly from the beginning. Purchased new during Christmas 2017, it has been displayed every Christmas since. There are minor scratches on the outside of the box, but overall it is in good condition for its age. The original box has some stains. Please consider this a used item.
