I deconstructed a Meisen kimono and made a long skirt. I was planning to release the Meisen skirt when it got warmer, but since there were people interested, I decided to list it. The original kimono was in very beautiful condition, with the basting threads still attached (photos 13-16). Meisen can fade when washed, so after deconstructing it, I only sterilized it with a high-temperature iron. It's a deep purple, almost black, with a pinkish-beige pattern. The kimono's unusual color combination resulted in a mysterious and unique skirt. The fabric is supple with a moderate sheen and the characteristic firmness of Meisen. This time, I paired it with a black long skirt. I've added long tucks, three in the front and three in the back, to reduce the volume. Despite the generous gathering, the tucks make the waist and hips look neat. Silk fabric is expensive, so I don't think I'll be able to buy fabric and make it myself. Deconstructing old clothes is difficult, but it's wonderful to experience the feel of silk in everyday life. It's also great to enjoy the unique colors and combinations that are characteristic of Japan. I enjoy sewing, specializing in straight stitching. I use old kimonos, obi, and furoshiki made of materials like Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon for my remakes. Please consider this item if you understand that there may be remaining threads, small holes, stains from used items, distortions, and double stitching. ✳︎Please avoid washing as much as possible.
