This piece was made by Shofu (Matsukaze), a company that had a branch in Nagoya. They were considered a rival of Noritake at the time, but after the war, they became a manufacturer of dental porcelain and are now known as a major manufacturer of dental materials. This is a small plate made for export to the UK before the war. Overseas, it is called the Scenic Pattern, a work depicting a lakeside landscape. It is a pattern often seen in British export porcelain and is characterized by delicate hand-painting. Because it is porcelain from before the development of bone china, the base has a bluish tint.
