☆ Ohicho Chouraku (8th Generation) OHICHO CHOURAKU Born in Kanazawa City in 1902, he graduated from the Ceramics Department of Ishikawa Prefectural Technical High School. After graduating, he researched Ohiyaki from around 1924, and through self-study, he succeeded in reviving the Ohishiro-maku glaze, which had been long extinct. He also worked on Sansai glaze, striving to create contemporary tea ceramics. Ohicho Chouraku, the 8th generation of the Ohiyaki Honke kiln: (1902-1991) Tougensai. Born in Kanazawa in 1902. His pottery activities spanned over seventy years. The first half of the 20th century was a turbulent time with the Great Depression and wars. The second half was a time when culture spread and developed through post-war economic recovery and high economic growth. He was close to Ohicho Chishin, the 8th generation of the Ohicho lineage, and received the name "Ohicho." Chouraku, in order to correctly convey the history of Ohiyaki, steadfastly adhered to traditional techniques while also being eager to research, establishing his own unique techniques, such as incorporating the white maku glaze and Karasansai techniques into the tradition. He lived a pottery life dedicated to tea ceramics, without greed and with honesty.
