Kita Gama Kyoshi Matsuda [Potter Introduction] Kyoshi Matsuda Born in Yomitan Village, Okinawa Prefecture in 1954. His twin brother is Yoji Matsuda. In 1974, he apprenticed under Jissei Omine at the Ishimine Kiln in Shuri, Naha City, and trained at the Omine Workshop from 1980. In 1990, he opened Kita Gama, a 13-chamber kiln, one of the largest in the prefecture. In 1994, his work was selected for the Japan Folk Crafts Museum Exhibition, and he has since won numerous awards and actively held solo exhibitions. In 2002, he exhibited his work in Los Angeles, USA. While respecting tradition, he is always challenging new things. His work is characterized by careful craftsmanship and powerful painting. ⚠︎ There are scratches on the handle due to aging.
