"Vertigo" (spatial disorientation), the name was given because of the tendency to become engrossed in playing and lose track of time during the pickup test play. The tone is a realization of a vintage Stratocaster's low-gain, moderate range, and a light drive that clings to the wound strings around the 12th fret. Like Fender vintage Stratocasters, these pickups use S-pole top, CW winding, and Alnico 5 magnets, with a meticulous winding process of approximately 1000 turns across four patterns. Regarding the tone, it is generally bright, with a wide range from low to high frequencies. The neck pickup has a low-frequency bias, with a strong compression feel, especially around the 12th fret. When a moderate amount of distortion is applied to single notes, a pleasant blues feel can be experienced. The middle pickup has a good balance, suitable for cutting and is more restrained in the low frequencies than the neck pickup, making it versatile. The bridge pickup has a high-frequency bias. It pairs well with overdrive, producing a sound that cuts through even during riff playing. All positions have the same polarity and winding direction, so hum cancellation does not work in the half-tone positions. Instead, the sound seems to come forward in the half-tone positions, resulting in a more present tone. Compared to the 1961 "Glory Days" offered by Tourus, it is slightly brighter with a wider range and a bit more power. The same impression is observed when compared to my reference, the Custom Shop '60. For those considering vintage-style pickups, we encourage you to try these before trying more expensive pickups. *Since these are new pickups, aging for about 1-2 hours is required after replacement.
