PlatSil Deadener LV is an additive for PlatSil, widely used by special effects technicians for artificial prosthetics. It is used in particular to replicate the appearance and feel of skin and human tissue, and to eliminate the artificial feel characteristic of silicone. PlatSil Deadener LV has a lower viscosity compared to Smiths Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener. Add PlatSil Deadener LV up to 300% of the total mixed weight of the PlatSil Gel mixture (Part A and Part B). Adding 300% PlatSil Deadener LV will produce a super gel that is very soft and sticky when cured. Conduct a test cure beforehand to determine the appropriate amount to add to the appliance. Some people choose to create a thin layer, or "skin," by applying deadened PlatSil@ gel to the back of non-deadened PlatSil@ gel to mimic the surface tension of skin. There are multiple types of deadeners depending on their application and performance.
