I created a two-piece obi from a high-quality fukuro obi (formal obi). It's separated into two parts: the body and the otaiko (drum) section. The body section is a free size that wraps around the waist. The obi is 190cm long. The otaiko is secured with Velcro, so you can extend and store the otaiko section, preventing creases in the obi's crest. You can also adjust the size of the otaiko. It can be stored in a tatoushi (obi storage paper), preserving the feel of a long obi. ◎ Information on Obi Pillow Base Since two-piece obis without fasteners tend to slip down, using the separately sold obi pillow base will keep the obi secure and prevent it from slipping.
