This is a yellow (ocher) lacquered bowl. The wooden box it was stored in was labeled as a soup bowl (suimono-wan), but it's a bit small in capacity, so I think it would also be suitable as a stew bowl (nimono-wan). Upon closer inspection, there's a cute painting of birds in flight. Why not change the atmosphere and enjoy your meal in a different way? It's an antique, and I don't believe there are any chips or peeling, but this is a layman's inspection, so please refrain from purchasing if you are overly concerned about such details.
