Unused Takiyasu Oboro-zome Homongi (Visiting Kimono) A beautiful visiting kimono with a gray gradation. What is Oboro-zome? It is a dyeing technique uniquely developed by "Takiyasu," a manufacturer headquartered in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture. The appeal of Takiyasu lies in its unique technique called "Oboro-zome Kasane Shibori" (Oboro-zome Layered Shibori). "Oboro-zome" in "Oboro-zome Kasane Shibori" is a Yuzen dyeing technique that darkens the upper part of the kimono and gradually fades towards the hem. Depending on the colors used for dyeing, there are differences in the shades, giving each kimono a unique flavor. In "Oboro-zome Kasane Shibori," the kimono is dyed with gradations of color, and then further layered with multiple colors and shibori (tie-dyeing) to express a unique color scheme. This is a relatively recent work.
