We consulted with three sanshin shops we are acquainted with, and they suggested it might be Hamashitan (a type of wood), but due to the age of the item, we cannot be certain. We shaved off a small portion, and the wood is a reddish color, not Yushi (another type of wood). It's a mysterious wood. The neck weighs 354 grams. There is some twisting. The lacquer has significant damage. We will not be performing any maintenance on this item, so please understand.
