Era: 1940s - 1950s Size: No. 26 Material: Metal Weight: Approximately 10g This is a US ARMY OFFICER dome signet ring, dating from the 1940s-50s (World War II - Korean War era), acquired from an antique dealer in San Diego, California, a city with the largest US Navy base. It's a piece of military jewelry that evokes a sense of history, reminiscent of what soldiers would have acquired at PXs (base stores) and souvenir shops in port cities. It has the earthy, alluring quality of well-worn antique tools, something you can't get with new accessories. It's a perfect match for rugged men's styles like military jackets, denim, and leather jackets. [About the Material] Based on the confirmation of some vintage-specific verdigris (green rust) and the absence of markings, we conducted our own specific gravity tests. The results revealed that the material is denser and heavier than common brass. Therefore, we estimate that it is a copper-based alloy, "nickel silver (German silver)." We were able to acquire this ring from a local dealer in San Diego, a US Navy base, who had a collection of stock items from that time. We currently have multiple items with the same design but different sizes and aging variations. Each one is unique, with variations in the discoloration and texture of the gold plating.
