I received this from my grandmother when I was little, and I don't know much about it, but it seems to be the "Shimono Ku Karuta" of Hokkaido, and it appears to be a traditional wooden karuta. ↓ From Google Search ↓ Shimono Ku Karuta is a traditional culture of Hokkaido where the last half of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu is read aloud and wooden cards are taken. It is certified as a Hokkaido Heritage. It is a type of Hyakunin Isshu Karuta. The reading cards use paper cards with portraits, names, and waka poems of the poets, just like the general Hyakunin Isshu, but the name comes from the fact that only the last half of the poem is read aloud. The taking cards are made of wood such as Magnolia obovata, and the last half of the poem is written in a unique calligraphic style of Hentaigana. It is also called "Ita Karuta". The feature of Shimono Ku Karuta is that the last half of the poem is read aloud instead of the first half. I counted 100 cards each.
