This is the "Underglaze Red Peony Ewer, Seigaiha Sake Cup Set" by ceramic artist Junyo Yamamoto. Ewer: With a plump, easy-to-hold shape typical of a ewer, it beautifully depicts a large, luxurious peony flower using the underglaze red technique. Sake Cup: The exterior is a chic green, and the interior is a vibrant blue, with the Seigaiha (blue ocean wave) pattern meticulously drawn across the entire surface of this small vessel. This artist, Junyo Yamamoto, doesn't seem to be very popular on Mercari, but I believe his expressive power of subjects, the brilliance of his colors, and his artistic sensibility are in no way inferior to other popular ceramic artists. All are hand-painted, and the beauty of the flowers of the four seasons is wonderfully expressed across the entire saucer.
