It is a style dictionary, a calligraphy dictionary, that includes the six styles: kaisho (block script), gyosho (semi-cursive script), sosho (cursive script), reisho (clerical script), shoten (small seal script), and daiten (large seal script) from the classics. The large and heavy oversized edition was published first, but this is a handy reduced edition, which has the same content but is smaller, lighter, and easier to handle. It was published in 1974 (Showa 49), and even the reduced edition is already 50 years old. It originally cost 10,000 yen 50 years ago, and is now an out-of-print item.
