I purchased this handmade item new for 2500 yen, and it was used to store a ROTHCO Type 2 mess kit. The mess kit itself was unused, so there is no soot or dirt from a campfire (inside). It's sized to perfectly fit both the ROTHCO and MOOSEROOMWORKS Type 2 mess kits. The zipper is black. The fabric is attached to cover the zipper. If the zipper is difficult to pull, open and close it by lifting the fabric covering. A snake knot made of waxed cord is attached to the zipper slider, and a rivet is used on the handle for a rugged feel.
