This blouse was purchased over 40 years ago in Romania for over 50,000 yen from someone who had acquired traditional costumes there. It's a Romanian hand-embroidered blouse with detailed smocking around the collar and dense embroidery, indicating a great deal of effort in its creation. It's a very labor-intensive blouse, entirely handmade. There is also embroidery on the back. The fabric appears to be cotton or a cotton-linen blend, possibly a crepe-like weave. The cuffs have tassels, which can be tightened to create puffed sleeves. The silk embroidery on the sleeves and front panels changes appearance depending on the angle and light, making it a truly lovely blouse ⭐︎ While many blouses are made as souvenirs, this one was actually worn by a Romanian local, so the fabric, embroidery, and smocking are all beautiful. Measurements (laid flat, approximate): Width 67.5cm, Length 66cm. Due to the unique Romanian construction at the armpits and the crepe-like fabric, the width can vary depending on how it's measured, so I've measured it as shown in photo 12. There is a slight fray in the smocking on the right side, as it was when I purchased it. It hasn't been a problem while wearing it or after home washing. Please check photo 13.
