This is a commemorative paper knife from the Toa Kaiun K.K. (East Asia Shipping Co., Ltd.) "Nikka Renrakusen Kobe Maru" (Japan-China Ferry Kobe Maru). The inscription "Showa 15" (1940) is engraved on the body, so I believe it is a pre-war item. The paper knife is black, has a moderate weight, and is shaped like a pirate's sword. It is rounded overall, and you cut paper with the tip, applying a little force. There is some damage, such as peeling of the surface material. The wooden box has been glued in several places where it was cracked. Also, a part of the top of the box is missing. The instruction manual has been repaired with tape where it was torn.
