The October 2022 issue features "Shrike" in its bird songs and delves into autumn eggplant, including cooking methods and English. It also provides an easy-to-understand, manga-style explanation of how to grow cilantro and how to eat it. The latter half of the magazine consists of stories and manga. I believe it is an excellent educational magazine for children focusing on food. ※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※ Ienohikari JA (Agricultural Cooperative) Children's Magazine "Chagurin" is a magazine that conveys the importance of "life, nature, food, health, and agriculture." In 1964, the JA Group's Ienohikari Association launched "Kodomo Ienohikari" as a monthly magazine for farmers' children, which was later renamed "Kodomo no Hikari." Then, in 1993, on its 30th anniversary, the magazine name was solicited from readers, and the current name "Chagurin," a combination of the English words Child, Agriculture, and Green (midori/nature), was born. "Chagurin" is this kind of book: We seriously consider children! "Chagurin" aims to be a children's magazine that directly addresses the most socially important theme today, "children's issues," strongly advocates for the importance of "life, nature, food, and agriculture," and contributes to "next-generation measures" for communities, JAs, and society at large. By carefully selecting and publishing high-quality children's literature, children's art, and fun manga, we foster children who love to read. We also focus on projects that are useful for "learning about food and agriculture." We aim to nurture strong and kind children with rich emotions, covering both study and play. Is it a difficult book? "Chagurin" is neither a rigid magazine focused solely on academics nor a purely entertainment magazine centered on manga. Targeting elementary school students who will lead the 21st century, we create easy-to-understand pages that loudly sing the praises of the wonder of living and emphasize the importance of life.
