(Follower discounts are available) Please understand this before making a purchase (＠＾＾＠) This is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Satomi Ton, with a screenplay co-written by Ozu Yasujiro and Noda Kogo. It is considered a masterpiece among Ozu's later works. Note that Kinuyo Tanaka, who played the daughter in "Late Spring," appears in this film as the mother. At the seventh anniversary of their mutual friend Miwa's death, Mamiya, Taguchi, and Hirayama reunite with the widow Akiko and her daughter Ayako. The three men try to meddle in Ayako's affairs, hoping to find her a husband, but she says she has no intention of getting married yet. The three men suspect that Ayako is hesitant to marry out of consideration for Akiko, and they try to arrange for Akiko to remarry. They propose Hirayama as a potential husband and try to persuade Ayako. Ayako, believing that her mother will remarry Hirayama, consults her friend Yuriko. Yuriko is furious at their high-handedness and strongly protests to the three men.
