Thank you for viewing. This is a sometsuke (blue and white) plate purchased at an antique market. I liked the design on the inside of the plate, so I brought it home. What could it be? It's a pattern of three leaves. Depending on the plate, it looks like a ginkgo leaf. It's probably a stylized design. Now, the question is the windows around the edge. The narrow windows have lattices and geometric patterns. What are the larger windows? The more you look at them, the more fascinating they become. Is it smart to see them as flowers and leaves? Are the clusters of white circles fruits? Are the swirls a stylized version of some pattern? Fuyo-de (lotus-shaped) ware has interesting designs, doesn't it? 1. Scratches present. 2.
