This artwork was purchased at the Mark Gonzales solo exhibition held in 2017 at BOOKMARC, a bookstore and gallery curated by Marc Jacobs. It is a one-of-a-kind art piece featuring a skateboard deck hand-painted directly by Mark Gonzales himself. This is a symbolic work, characteristic of Mark Gonzales, that elevates a skateboard into a work of art. I was among the first or second in line on the first day of sales, and all the artworks painted on skateboards sold out that day. The second photo shows the exhibition venue, and the artwork itself is visible among those displayed on the wall. I recall that Mark himself wrote the title "NANCY" on the actual piece at the venue. By the way, the blue board in the center was not for sale. The third photo shows Mark Gonzales himself and the exhibition scene, and the actual piece can be seen on the wall to his right. This is a unique piece with hand-painted artwork, and I believe it is an extremely rare collector's item. It embodies the physicality of skate culture, the improvisational nature of street art, and the completeness of contemporary art.
