The name "Michi-naga" is said to be derived from Fujiwara no Michinaga of the Heian period. This traditional and formal pattern is not influenced by trends and is very suitable for ceremonies and wedding receptions. The fabric has no luster like that of hikihaku (foil-backed fabric), but rather a tightly woven texture and a high-quality silk feel. The fabric is not stiff, but soft, making it easy to wear.
