Through the portrayal of a female idol put on trial for breaking the no-dating rule, the film delves into the uniquely developed idol culture in Japan and the unspoken issue of "idols not dating." Director Fukada was inspired by a newspaper article about "a former idol being ordered to pay damages," and the film took 10 years to complete. The lead role is played by Kyoko Saito, a former member of the idol group "Hinatazaka46." Mai Yamaoka, a popular center member of the rising idol group "Happy☆Fanfare," coincidentally reunites with her middle school classmate, Kei Mayama, and they fall in love. Mai struggles between her position as an idol and her relationship, but after an incident, she impulsively runs to Kei. Eight months later, Mai is summoned to court by her agency for violating the "no-dating clause" in her contract. In court, the agency president, Koichi Yoshida, and chief manager Saya Yabuki, among others, pursue Mai... Saito, a former idol herself, delicately portrays Mai's struggles and growth, using her own experience. Yuki Kura from the drama "SHOGUN" plays Kei Mayama, who falls in love with Mai; Erika Karata from "Bad Queen" plays Saya Yabuki, the chief manager of the agency; and Kenjiro Tsuda, a popular voice actor and actor who is also active in films and dramas, plays Koichi Yoshida, the agency president.
