I purchased this approximately 30 years ago in Sweden and have enjoyed displaying it in a curio cabinet, but unfortunately, I'm letting it go due to space constraints. This is a penguin sculpture by Mats Jonasson, a famous Swedish glass artist. The features and details are as follows: It uses a technique called "reverse intaglio," where the engraving is done in reverse from the back of the crystal, making it appear three-dimensional when viewed from the front. The material is high-quality lead crystal. It was made in his studio in Målerås, and the fine details of the animal's skin texture and expression are particularly noteworthy. It can be enjoyed as a decorative piece or used as a paperweight. I believe it is in good condition, but it is a used item, so please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned.
