I think you will use a bath towel or something similar on the scale, so it should be fine even without the mat. Although it was manufactured in 2020, I was using it until recently, so I think it is usable without any problems. Batteries will be removed before shipping. There is no box or instruction manual, only the scale itself. It will be wrapped in corrugated cardboard for shipping.
