This is a set of five square plates in the Kakiemon style, dating from the late Edo period to the Meiji era. The square plates have a deeply recessed center (the well), decorated with overglaze enamel painting of plum blossoms and a wattle fence. Floral motifs are painted in overglaze enamel on the four corners of the rim. The reverse side is plain, with a fine red line around the foot. These are very elegant and high-quality pieces. They were found in the storehouse of an old family near Zenko-ji Temple in Shinshu. The size is 13.7 cm vertically and horizontally, 7 cm in base diameter, and 3 cm in height. The condition is good. They come in a paulownia wood box. They will be carefully packed and shipped.
