Natural whetstone, Kyoto origin, mountain unknown, for finishing. This is a very old whetstone that I have resurfaced. It's a hard whetstone that can be used for final finishing. It provides a firm sharpening feel. When used on a silver-3 yanagiba knife, it will achieve a near-mirror finish. There are some chips on the whetstone surface, but they do not interfere with sharpening. There are no noticeable streaks, and it's a good whetstone. The height varies depending on the location, so please use a whetstone stand or similar to adjust. There are layer cracks and chips, so the surfaces other than the sharpening surface have been treated with cashew lacquer. As this is a natural product, there may be streaks or areas that pull during sharpening that were not apparent during my test sharpening. Please consider this when making your purchase.
