This is a fine sake bottle, a representative example of Matsushiro ware, a type of pottery from Shinshu (present-day Nagano Prefecture). Dating from the mid to late Edo period, it is believed to be a work of the Daikanchomachi kiln, a prominent kiln of Matsushiro ware. Although it is approximately two hundred years old, it is in pristine condition, with a beautiful glaze color and an elegant, refined form. This piece is part of a collection belonging to a leading collector of Matsushiro ware in Nagano Prefecture, and such high-quality pieces are rarely seen. It is a very valuable work.
