This is a Kobukusa (old fukusa). Please use it when presenting matcha or as a mat. 【Fabric】 Genuine silk. The material is a specially dyed Omeshi "Mikeshi," a high-quality material that has been preserved (see the fabric notation in the image). It's a subdued, pale light green (light moss green) with a subtle sheen. It has a smooth texture. Enshu Shippo's genuine silk material rarely features fine patterns, making this material unusual and a rare piece for me. Anyone, regardless of age or gender, can use it casually with sophistication and elegance. Enshu Shippo: This pattern, called Enshu Dushi, is a design favored by Kobori Enshu, who became a master of the tea ceremony after Rikyu, Oribe, and Sekishu. It is famous as a pattern of Meibutsu-gire (famous fabrics). The stylized chrysanthemum, karahana (Chinese flower), peony, and Shippo patterns are woven within the Ishidatami (stone pavement) pattern. As this is a Kobukusa, I have applied a core to give it a crisp finish. 【Size】 The traditional size of Kobukusa used in the Urasenke school of tea ceremony. Some people also use it in Kodo (incense ceremony). Finished size: Made with a template of 5 sun (15.2cm) x 5 sun 3 bu (16.3cm), but please allow for slight variations. 【Sewing Method】 Three sides are sewn, and the short side of 5 sun is a "wa" (folded edge). There are no knotting balls. ❤️ Since it is new, there is no crease in the center.
