The first model of the "NIKE AIR FORCE 1" that was born in 1982, used mesh on the side panels, commonly known as "AIR FORCE ZERO". However, the high-cut version that appeared later was updated with a "kuno-ji" (くの字, a Japanese character resembling a sideways "L") shaped stitch on the side panels. The low-cut version, which first appeared in 1983, also had a different paneling from the current one, with a "kuno-ji" stitch design on the side panels, but the stitch pattern was changed to a wave shape in the following production lots. The phantom design, the "kuno-ji" stitch, was revived in 2020 as the "AIR FORCE 1 LABEL MAKER" after 37 years. After that, it has been a hit, setting itself apart from hype sneakers with the "AF1 VINTAGE GREEN" and so on. This time, a classic pair using the "kuno-ji" stitch has been newly added to the lineup. Suede and canvas are mixed for the overlays, and the base is unified with a light khaki color. White is used for the shoelaces and swoosh to create an old-fashioned color palette. Furthermore, the gum sole of the midsole accelerates the vintage feel, resulting in a finish that pays respect to the archives.
