In other words, it provides a more natural and wider distortion with less compression, based on the nuances of your picking, compared to conventional diode-clipping overdrives. The OCD achieves a tube-like distortion through a rare combination of overdriving a JFET op-amp and hard-clipping a pair of MOSFETs in the latter part of the circuit.
