This is the top-of-the-line Tokai Mat model, the W1252. It features a 2-piece quilted maple body, which is unheard of nowadays, and has weather checking due to the all-lacquer finish. Furthermore, the neck is the wet carbon neck unique to Tokai of this era, making this combination quite rare. The pickguard and back panel are made of aluminum, resulting in a very elaborate specification. The cavity is routed for 2H pickups, specific to this model. Considering that the successor models of the same period were 3S, and had 3S cavities, it seems that each unit was made individually. I purchased it because of its Steve Lukather-esque looks, reminiscent of Valley Arts guitars, but I am selling it to declutter, as I also own a Valley Arts quilted 1-piece guitar.
