This is a superb album by the popular alto saxophonist Jackie McLean, released by Blue Note in 1964. Following his innovative masterpiece, BLP 4137 One Step Beyond, released the previous year, McLean recorded this album with a new lineup. Of particular note is the participation of Charles Tolliver (tp), whose debut album this is. In addition, the album features a stellar cast of up-and-coming musicians at the time, including Herbie Hancock (p), Cecil McBee (b), and Roy Haynes (ds), resulting in a masterful work where everyone delivers outstanding performances that were ahead of their time. This lineup, including Tolliver, would later achieve significant success in jazz history. US Blue Note BST 84179 stereo, Japanese King Records pressing. The jacket has some yellowing and stains, but is in good condition. The record itself is in excellent condition with very little noise. The obi (sleeve band) is missing, but it comes with a Japanese commentary booklet.
