It is a substantial product made of cast aluminum, manufactured around 1950, and has a weighty feel. While the aging developed over many years is attractive, the solid weight provides stability when grinding, helping to balance the grind size. To adjust the grind size, lift the pin under the handle and turn the lower nut. Turning clockwise makes it finer, and counter-clockwise makes it coarser.
