I replaced the insoles immediately after purchase, and they are in very clean condition. I have only worn this item a few times, and it is clean. The stain on the sole of the left shoe occurred during home storage and is not from stepping on anything. While it says "tears, stains, odors present," there are no tears or odors. Please consider purchasing.
