Using this fitting eliminates the need to tie the obi, making it easy to handle even by oneself. It has a soft shape that conforms to the kimono and back, and won't damage the obi. It also helps to maintain a beautiful Otaiko (drum) shape. This is an antique item from the Showa era, so it's not very practical, but it's a rare and retro piece.
