These are often effective when the fish aren't responding to flies on the surface; a slightly deeper presentation can make all the difference. To avoid excessive snagging and unnatural movement in the water, the weight is provided by small beads placed on the side of the fly. This setup is designed for ease of use in my primary fishing grounds, the headwaters of the river. There are three body patterns: cream, brown, and peacock, with three flies of each color. A UV color accent is added to the rear. This is one of my main, long-time favorite flies.
