【Authentic】Mubun Yamada 1900-1988, a monk of the Showa era. Born July 16, 1900. He studied under Ekai Kawaguchi, and later at Rinzai University (now Hanazono University). After being a trainee monk at Tenryu-ji Temple, he became the chief priest of Reinin-in Temple of Myoshin-ji Temple in 1949, and the president of Hanazono University. In 1978, he became the Kancho (chief administrator) of the Myoshin-ji school. Known for his easy-to-understand sermons, he also worked to console the war dead. He died on December 24, 1988, at the age of 88. He was from Aichi Prefecture. His secular name was Chojiro.
